Kerrie Murphy is the TV critic for 'The Australian' newspaper. She writes a very entertaining column in the Thursday edition of Media and Marketing. Recently NickPiper sat down with her to talk about her view of the domestic television market.

1. WHAT IS THE CURRENT STATE OF AUSTRALIAN TV?

KERRIE: It is not as bad as everyone thinks. There are too many shows that are hastily out together without any consideration for their longevity.

2. WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE TV PRESENTERS?

*****************************

KERRIE: I am a fan of the old guard namely Bert Newton. I think he has the ability to perform and appeal in any kind of genre. He has a kind nature but will be serious when he needs to be.

Those kinds of presenters are few and far between. Today, everyone seems to want to shout and scream at the camera.

3. YOUR ADVICE TO PRESENTERS?

*****************************

KERRIE: I think it's all about the love for the job. Don't get into it for the money. Searching for your 5 minutes of fame will lead you into a deep dark hole.
