The Head of Development and Production at the Lifestyle Channel is John Reddin. An Irishman who is based in Sydney, John has a passion for television that runs deep! He took the time to provide some interesting answers to our questions!

WHAT KIND OF PRESENTER DOES THE LIFESTYLE CHANNEL EMPLOY?

JOHN: We look at people who have skills in a certain area - mainly food, interior and exterior design - OR You need to find some kind of 'catch' or 'quirk' if you don't have any particular skill. A pretty face is not enough nowadays. We would rather teach presenter skills to an expert tradesman than teaching tradesman skills to a presenter. People with initiative usually find a talent or distinguishing feature in which to highlight.

WHAT SKILLS ARE IMPORTANT?

JOHN: You need to get a life. You need to be worldly. Too many people think that learning about the world takes place in the classroom or by reading manuals. Personality needs depth and you achieve this by 'living'. Although posture, breathing, projection and talent count for plenty, nothing
replaces personality!

WHAT KIND OF MONEY CAN YOU EARN?

JOHN: The first issue is to NOT think about the money! If money is your motivation then you won't last, simply because there is very little money involved when you begin in TV.
